September 1 and 3 Schedule

I'd like to try posting a general outline of what will be going on at preschool. That way, you can know what to prepare kids for when dressing them (nothing too messy this week since the smocks haven't arrived), and also (and most importantly), if you want to reinforce stuff at home, you'll know exactly what went on. Oh, yes, and in the end we'll have a whole year worth of preschool written down and posted. Could be handy . . . Since I have been getting all of the other stuff ready, I'm just getting this online, but I can do it sooner in the future. Oh, all I did was copy and paste, and I'm printing out copies for myself to write on, too.

9:30 Gathering – peg boards

9:40 Circle Time

-home/school poster
-what day is today on calendar (no calendar yet)
-Read Aloud – Shiny Dinah

9:50 Literacy Activity – J - Jumping in the Jungle


10:05 Math – time capsule part 1 – sing growing song, height, weight, birthday candles

10:20 Break/Snack – jam (on bread), play outside

10:40 Science/Social Studies – Science Senses
- talk about what scientists do
- Listen (identify) to bees, dogs, pigs, train, water (as long as they last)
- Feel things in bag to identify
- Smell things to identify
- Close eyes and taste to identify
- See . . . .

11:05 Choosing Time
1. Stamps and markers

2. Shaving cream

3. Peg boards

4. Train table

11:25 Clean up, Gather to sing and read until picked up

10:05 Math – part 2, time capsule – feet, hands, head, sing growing song

10:20 Break/Snack – JELLO jigglers, play outside

10:40 Science/Social Studies –
- Talk about “Science Senses”
- Give kids magnifying glasses and clipboards, talk about their use
- Let kids go on short walk to observe things, encourage to draw
- Write children’s dictations of what they say they’ve seen and drawn
