9:30  Gathering –                              Blocks, Books, etc

9:40  Welcome Time
            -Song -
Firefighter
(tune: Frere Jacques)
Firefighter, firefighter
You are brave, you are brave.
Putting out the fires, putting out the fires,
Lives you save, lives you save.

-Who is here today - Talk with kids about who is at school, who is not, and place their names of those present on the chart. Count how many kids here, and write the number. You can do lots of extensions with playing with names if you want.
-Calendar           Sing "Days of the Week" song to tune of Addams Family
-Read Aloud – Going to the Firehouse

9:50  Literacy Activity –
Rhyme Time 'og':  See if kids can help think of words. Look at pictures and words in bag and say the word and have them match the picture to the word.

Sing: Never Play With Matches - sung to "Frere Jacques"
Never, never play with matches.
If you do, if you do,
You might burn your fingers,
You might burn your fingers,
That won't do! That won't do!
Never, never play with matches.
If you do, if you do,
You might burn your clothes,
You might burn your clothes,
That won't do! That won't do!
Repeat, substituting lighters for matches.
~Leora Grecian

10:05  Math –
Fire station math. Count how many firefighters are at fire station. Match numbers to the amount of firefighters shown.

10:20  Break/Snack – Pretzels

Maybe also make fire truck with red frosting, pretzels, and Oreos.

10:40  Science/Social Studies –
Have kids choose a Hot, Not, or Silly paper and put it on the Hot, Not, or Silly side of the paper, talking about avoiding things that are hot.
·         Show kids the smoke alarm and ask them what it sounds like.
o   Ask them what it means when the alarm goes off? Fire!
o   What do we do? Get down and get out fast. Look at picture.
o   Talk about feeling the door if it is hot or cold. Using door if cold, not using door if hot. Also talking about if clothes catch on fire stop, drop, and roll.
o   GET LOW and PLAY! Could put some red construction paper on the "hot" doors and put fires around the room for kids to avoid. Put paper fire on each kid and let them practice stop, drop, and roll.

11:05  Choosing Time

            2. Coloring/Gluing fire on paper
