Gathering: Little People Nativity
Song: Santa (To the tune of Bingo - learning how to spell santa)
Book: The Gingerbread Man
Literacy: Dan the Gingerbread Man from SEEL
Math: Gingerbread Man math - give each kid a gingerbread cookie, and have them take only one bite. Record on a graph how many people took a bite of his head first, his arm, or his leg. Let them eat the whole cookie while discussing. - Ended up decorating a paper gingerbread man while the cookies were baking, and making patterns all over him. Kids loved it, and it was so simple.
Snack/Break: Gingerbread cookie, dance around
Social Studies: Read Gingerbread Baby, talk about differences/similarities. Act out gingerbread man story.
Choosing Time:
1. Sensory/Literacy - Gingerbread playdough - use letters to stamp in playdough or use Christmas cookie cutters
2. Art - decorate gingerbread man with crayons, paint over with brown watercolor and watch the "magic" of it not sticking
3. Gingerbread baby game - Roll a dice to get the gingerbread baby to the gingerbread house. Simple. - In the future with kids this little I would fix a dice to only be able to roll 1 and 2. The kids couldn't count-on any more than that.
