Gathering time: Playdough – Make a bear with playdough

Book/song: The bear stays up (shows his den, hibernation ideas etc.)

Literacy time: Im bringing home a baby bumble bee. Have them draw 10 capital B’s and 10 lower case b’s . Then have them sort little pieces of paper and glue it on their B paper.

Math time: Spread a variety of foods out on a sheet. Have each kid sort them into different groups. Have them create a pattern with the food, and then have them sort back into separate groups.  Then have them Gather them for hibernation and move to science

Snack: Let them eat the food they have sorted and gather in a “bear den” (aka tent)

Science/Social Studies: Show them a Youtube video on bears and hibernation, and talk about how bears hibernate and gather their food and eat before they hibernate. Show them the bears in the bear resource box

Choosing time: Play dough or “the claw” have each kid get in a circle and hold your hand up above the circle over a group of blocks that have letters on them. “say Rya grab letter E” then slowly start beeping and moving your hand “claw” downward toward the letter in hopes that they will see it and grab it before you. The kids LOVE this game
 DAY 2

Gathering time: Playdough – Make a cave or a letter B

Book/song: A dictionary book on Bears, showing pictures of how they catch salmon
Literacy time: Repeat Bumblebee, let the kids add variations, and point out what starts with B

Math time: Instruct kids to grab 2 banana slices, 2 blueberries and 10 raisins. Help them count them out and sort them into piles. Give them a pancake on a plate. Have them frost it, and then let them create their bear with 2 banana ears, blueberry eyes and nose and mouth with raisins. Talk about what it would look like if we didn’t sort and organize where things were going to go.

Snack: popcorn
Science/Social Studies: Talk about how popcorn pops and use it for snack time. Also tie in more bears stuff. (I know this has nothing to do with the letter b or bears, but I wanted to do it for snack time ;)

Choosing time: Swinging or gluing fabric onto a paper in the form of a letter B Maybe letting them practice the letter B in shaving cream (depending on number of kids and amount of wildness going on ;)
