What you need:
Bread or graham crackers
Wipped cream cheese or frosting
Red food coloring or red strawberry jelly
Oreo cookies or Ritz crackers
Pretzel sticks
Cheez-it Crackers
Optional: Red cherries or strawberries

What you do:
Take a slice of bread. Cut bread in half to create two rectangles. Cut one of the rectangles in half to create two squares. To make the shape of the fire engine, use the rectangular piece for the body of the truck. Add one square piece to the top of the body to form the truck's cab (pic1.) Add red food coloring to some wipped cream cheese and spread onto bread pieces (pic2.) Use pretzel sticks to make a ladder, Cheez-it for the window, and Oreo cookies for the wheels (pic3.) If desired, cut a cherry in half and add to top of cab for the siren.

Get red and yellow sidewalk chalk. Draw flames on a sidewalk and let you children put them out with water bottles.

Cut rectangular shapes and circular shapes out of construction paper.
Have the children assemble fire trucks by gluing these together to form a fire truck template.
The kids can use yarn or string for the fire hose and straws for the ladders.

4.Smoke, Smoke, Fire-Played like "Duck, Duck, Goose" except the children will go around the circle, and say "smoke, smoke, Fire."

10:05 Math – Egg Carton Matching, put two things in each hole, beads, bears, toys, etc., help them visualize the number and amount together, practice writing two. Use beads, bears, toys, trucks, etc. Write the number 2 on the egg carton so that they can practice tracing it with their fingers.
10:20 Break/Snack – Fire Cups- Need: Small clear cups, red, yellow, and orange jello, cool whip, blue food coloring. First prepare all of the jello and chill. Then once chilled, cut the jello into small cubes. Mix the cool whip and a small bit of blue coloring in a bowl, set aside. Encourage each child to spoon in some red jello into the cup. Then spoon on orange, then yellow, creating layers. Lastly, dollop with some blue whip. You now have fire cups!!!

Put up a sheet high enough so that your children can crawl under it. Next have children pretend to be fire fighters and crawl underneath the fire. Teach them to stay low when there is a fire, to feel the door and see if it’s hot. Make sure they know what to do when there is a fire and where to go.
